A 3-year project launched in schools to promote volunteer work

Damascus, SANA – Aimed at spreading the culture of volunteerism in schools, a project was launched Thursday by “Syria Brings Us Together” volunteer team volunteer in cooperation with the Education Ministry.

The project was launched at Fayez Mansour Secondary School in the city of Damascus, whose schools will be included as the first stage of the project, which is meant to expand its scope of activities to include all the provinces.

The team presented a review of a number of documentary films as examples for individual volunteer work and an array of activities which the team carried out last year.

Questionnaires were given to students to gauge their opinions about volunteer work and participation in volunteer activities as well as the importance of positive interaction with others.

Suszn al-Riz, a member of the Board of Directors of “Syria Brings Us Together”, highlighted in a statement to SANA the importance of providing psychological and intellectual support to the youths, especially under the tough circumstances facing them due to the terrorist war in country still raging since 2011.

The project, al-Riz noted, will be run for three years, during which period five schools will be visited per month, and each school welcomes the team twice in a year.

She also affirmed the team’s full readiness to hold educational lectures about volunteer work in any school nominated by the Education Ministry in Damascus and Damascus Countryside for the current time, referring to the team’s plan to expand activities to include all the provinces.

“Syria Brings Us Together” is a volunteer team that includes a group of Syrian youths who have undertaken the responsibility to defend their homeland on intellectual, humanitarian, social and media levels in the face of the terrorist war that has taken a severe toll on every aspect of the Syrian life.

It has organized more than 400 initiatives, events and campaigns during the past four years, most of which target martyrs’ families, wounded persons and displaced families.
