Syrian Mona Shoheiber gains a silver medal at World League of Karate Championship

Damascus, SANA –Member of the national karate team Mona Shoheiber ranked the second gaining a silver medal for individual fighting of weight below 61 kg in the World League of Karate Championship held in Sharm El-Sheikh in Egypt.

Six Syrian players are participating in the Championship, where 250 players from more than 24 countries are taking part in addition to 60 international referees and 30 technicians.

Head of Karate Federation Jehad Mayya told SANA that team’s participation is the first for this year, pointing out that participating in the championship provides contact with world champions and increases experience of both the players and the referees.
