Syria, India discuss enhancing cooperation in educational field

New Delhi, SANA – Higher Education Minister Atef Naddaf on Wednesday met Indian Minister of Human Resource Development and Higher Education Prakash Javadekar in New Delhi.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed means of consolidating bilateral relations in the educational sector.

Javadekar expressed his country’s readiness to participate in developing the educational sector in Syria, enhancing prospects of cooperation between Syria and India in this field, and increasing the numbers of scholarships granted by India to the Syrian students.

The Indian Minister hailed Syria’s victories against terrorism, reiterating the need for providing the necessary aid to the Syrian people.

For his part, Naddaf briefed the Indian side on the state of the educational sector in Syria and the sabotage that affected this sector at the hands of terrorists, stressing the Syrian government’s exerted efforts for maintaining the continuity of the educational process in all Syrian universities.

He expressed Syria’s desire to cooperate with India through reactivating the relevant agreements between the two sides and increasing the scholarships granted to the Syrian students and the number of the training courses for Syrian staff in different scientific domains.

In a relevant context, Naddaf discussed with a number of heads of Indian universities and institutes means of enhancing cooperation with the Syrian universities through exchanging expertise and visits. He also met a number of Syrian students studying in India.
